How Our Auto Body Shop Works — Step by Step

We believe the most stressful part of auto body repair shouldn’t be wondering what’s happening to your car. Here’s exactly what our process looks like from the moment you contact us.

Step 1 — Free Estimate

Bring your vehicle in or start with our free virtual estimate online. We’ll give you a clear, honest assessment of the damage at no charge — no pressure, no runaround.

Step 2 — Blueprinting & Teardown Inspection

Once you authorize the repair, our team does a full teardown inspection — what we call blueprinting. This is the step most Las Vegas body shops skip. We pull the damaged components completely and look for everything a visual estimate misses: bent subframes, stressed suspension parts, hidden panel damage, compromised wiring. Every finding is photographed and documented.

Step 3 — Insurance Coordination

We work directly with your insurance company so you don’t have to chase them. We submit the documentation, photos, and supplements needed to get the full scope of damage covered. If your insurer pushes back or short-pays, we push back for you — our job is to fix your car correctly, not to make the claim process easier for the insurance company.

Step 4 — Body & Structural Repair

Our technicians use the Chief Frame Machine and a 3D frame measuring system to restore your vehicle’s structural geometry to manufacturer specifications. Every weld, every panel, every clip is addressed according to the original manufacturer repair guidelines — not shortcuts.

Step 5 — Mechanical Repair (If Needed)

Most auto body shops stop at the body. When they find a mechanical problem — and collisions cause them regularly — they send you to a separate mechanic. At HiStar, our ASE-certified mechanics are already here. Alignment, suspension, electrical, drivetrain — it all gets handled in one place, saving you time and eliminating the warranty gaps that come from splitting repairs between shops.

Step 6 — Paint & Refinishing

After bodywork clears our quality inspection, your vehicle moves to the paint department. We use Sherwin-Williams waterborne paint and laser spectrum color matching to blend your repaired panels seamlessly with the rest of the vehicle. Every panel gets proper surface prep, primer, color coat, and clear coat — applied to manufacturer standards. We remove trim and emblems before painting. No tape-and-mask shortcuts.

Step 7 — Final Inspection & Delivery

Before your vehicle leaves our shop, it goes through a final quality control inspection. Every clip, connector, and trim piece is verified. If something isn’t right, it doesn’t leave. When you pick up your vehicle, we walk you through everything that was done.

Why Choose HiStar Over Other Auto Body Shops in Las Vegas

Gold Class I-CAR Certified

I-CAR Gold Class is the highest training designation in the collision repair industry. It means our technicians are current on the latest repair methods for every vehicle type, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), aluminum structures, and high-strength steel. Most Las Vegas body shops don’t hold this certification. We do.

ASE-Certified Mechanics On-Site

Collisions create mechanical damage that isn’t always visible — thrown alignment, damaged suspension components, stressed drivetrain parts. Because we have ASE-certified mechanics on-site, we find and fix those problems as part of the same repair. No second shop. No gap in accountability.

Full Blueprinting, Every Time

We don’t estimate from the outside and hope for the best. Every vehicle goes through a full teardown inspection before any repair work begins. This protects you from mid-repair surprises and gives your insurance company the documentation they need to approve the full scope of work from the start.

Photo Documentation at Every Stage

Your repair is photographed throughout the process — teardown, structural work, paint prep, reassembly. You’ll have a complete record of what was done. If your insurance company has questions, we have the answers ready.

Sherwin-Williams Paint & Laser Color Matching

Getting the color right matters, especially in Las Vegas where UV exposure fades paint faster than almost anywhere in the country. Our laser spectrum color matching system reads the exact tint of your existing paint — including oxidation — so the repaired panels blend without a visible line. Our Sherwin-Williams waterborne paint process meets environmental standards and delivers a finish that holds up in the desert.

We Work for You, Not Your Insurance Company

Nevada law gives you the right to choose any licensed auto body shop — regardless of what your insurer recommends. We’ll tell you that every time. We handle the insurance coordination, but our obligation is to restore your vehicle correctly, not to keep your insurer’s cost down. Learn more about your rights here.

Las Vegas Auto Body Repair — Built for Desert Conditions

Repairing vehicles in Las Vegas isn’t the same as repairing them anywhere else. Our climate creates specific challenges that a shop without local experience will get wrong.

UV & Heat Damage to Paint

Las Vegas summers push past 115°F and deliver relentless UV exposure that degrades clear coat faster than virtually any other market in the country. A repaint that isn’t properly prepped, primed, and sealed will peel, fade, or oxidize within a year or two. Our refinishing process accounts for desert heat and UV intensity at every stage.

Sun-Faded Paint Matching

After a few years in the Las Vegas sun, your vehicle’s paint has shifted from its factory color. Matching a repaired panel to the oxidized surrounding paint requires precision that generic color-matching can’t achieve. Our laser spectrum system reads your actual paint as it exists today — not just the factory code — so the blend is invisible.

Monsoon Hail Damage

Late-summer monsoon storms roll through the Las Vegas valley with little warning and can dent dozens of panels in minutes. We handle hail damage claims routinely — from paintless dent repair on lighter hits to full panel replacement when the damage warrants it.

Highway & Road Debris

High-speed driving on I-15 and the surrounding desert highways means chips, cracks, and debris strikes that are more common and more severe than in other markets. Our technicians know what Las Vegas roads do to vehicles — because they drive them too.

We Work With All Major Insurance Companies

HiStar Auto Center works directly with every major carrier serving the Las Vegas market:

State Farm · GEICO · Allstate · Progressive · Farmers · USAA · Liberty Mutual · Travelers · Nationwide · AAA

We handle the paperwork, the supplements, and the back-and-forth. You focus on getting back to your life.

Your Right to Choose: Nevada law guarantees you the right to select any licensed auto body shop for your repair — your insurer cannot legally require you to use their preferred shop. If you’re being pressured, call us and we’ll walk you through your options.

Frequently Asked Questions — Auto Body Shop Las Vegas

How long does auto body repair take in Las Vegas?

It depends on the extent of the damage and parts availability. Minor repairs typically take 3–5 business days. Significant structural or collision repairs can take 2–3 weeks. We give you a timeline estimate upfront and keep you updated if anything changes.

Do I need to go through insurance for auto body repair?

Not necessarily. If the damage is minor or your deductible exceeds the repair cost, paying out of pocket may make more sense. We’ll give you an honest estimate either way and let you decide. There’s no pressure to file a claim.

What is the blueprinting process?

Blueprinting is a complete teardown inspection we conduct before any repair work begins. We remove damaged components and examine everything behind and beneath the visible damage — subframes, suspension, wiring, hidden panels. This is how we find everything, not just what shows on the surface. It prevents mid-repair surprises and gives insurance companies the documentation they need to approve a complete repair from the start.

Can you match my car’s paint color exactly?

Yes. Our laser spectrum color matching system reads the actual color of your existing paint — including any UV fading or oxidation — and formulates a precise match. We use Sherwin-Williams waterborne paint for the application. The goal is always a blend that’s invisible to the eye.

What if my car has mechanical damage from the collision?

We handle it in-house. HiStar has ASE-certified mechanics on-site who address alignment, suspension, electrical, and drivetrain damage as part of the same repair process. You don’t need to coordinate with a separate mechanic or worry about accountability gaps between two shops.

Does HiStar help with rental car coordination?

Yes. If your insurance policy includes rental coverage, we’ll help coordinate it so you have transportation while your vehicle is being repaired.
